The Importance of SEO

Do you think SEO is just an urban, marketing myth? Think again! Vanessa Fox, the SEO writer and consultant, had the following to say regarding the credibility of SEO: “SEO is not about tricks or manipulating algorithms. It’s about understanding the online landscape and evolving to meet your customers where they are.”

Search engine optimisation is essential to any small or large business, looking to establish and/or increase their web presence (and ultimately, their consumer base).

The Internet never sleeps — which explains the 2.9 million searches performed each minute, along with the 175 million searches, every hour. There are 4 billion searches conducted each day and 131 billion searches per month!

Search drives 400 percent more traffic to web pages than social media does, and 93 percent of online experiences begin with a search engine. 44 percent of online shoppers begin by using a search engine, and 70 percent of the links search users click on are organic, not paid.

An additional 60 percent of clicks go to the top three organic search results, and 80 percent of search engine users say they never click on sponsored search results. 42 percent of all searchers click on the top-ranked result. Only 23 percent ever click on a sponsored link. 50 percent of consumers are more likely to click on a search result if the brand appears multiple times on the results page, and companies that blog receive twice as many inbound links.

Editor-in-chief of Search Land Engine, Danny Sullivan had the following to say, regarding the possibility of fully-automated SEO: “Tools are nice. But we’ve had tools for years to build houses, yet we don’t have completely automated house building.”
